Knitting Instruction

Join me, bring a friend, or make new friends! Individual and/or small group sessions will provide plenty of direct support in a casual, friendly setting in my Melrose home. Right now, I’m offering knitting classes on Monday evening, as well as a variety of other classes, and individual instruction throughout the week. All lessons are structured to enable lots of personalized instruction.

Individual lessons: $30/hour; bring 1-3 friends for $20/hour, per person.

Small group sessions: $80/4 weeks, 1 and a half hour sessions for 3-4 individuals.

  • Learn to Knit!

    Learn the basics of how to knit in this four session class. Kits are available at Lucky Cat Yarns in Melrose that have everything you’ll need to get started.

  • Catch a Falling Star Vest

    Ready to create a garment? This unisex vest pattern introduces the following elements: knitting to gauge, learning basic vest construction, seaming, finishing techniques with rolled hems, weaving in ends, blocking, and adding a pocket. Additionally, you’ll learn how to make an i-cord and a star!

  • Northern Strand Hat

    You understand the basics of long tail cast on, knit, purl, and you’re ready to make your first hat in this two session class. You’d like to knit something versatile that you can wear or give as a gift to a friend or teen in your life. Northern Strand hat design may just be the perfect project.

    You understand the basics of long tail cast on, knit, purl and you’ve made your first hat. You’d like to learn about knitting cables. This class will cover how to make your first cables and give you the tools you need to complete this classic beanie.

    Get ready for a fun knitting adventure with Blueberries in Winter Hat. I always try to appreciate the idea of cool air on the hottest days of Summer, and decided I really wanted to remember the warmest, playful days on the coolest days too…and so here’s to Blueberries in Winter.

    You know how to knit and purl and think you might like to try adding a little colorwork to your skill set. I created this pattern with the thought that we all might need a bit of color during the cool months, whether we’re cheering on a sports team, heading out for a walk or gathering round the firepit.
